How to use the planner
- Pick the venue at the top left. Switching venues starts a new layout.
- Add tables by clicking a size in the left palette (it appears in the middle of the map) or dragging it onto the map.
- Say what a table is for with the Use dropdown on the right: dining tables get a number, buffet / bar / head table and friends get a label, or pick Other and type your own.
- Move by dragging. Rotate with the small handle above a selected item, or press R. Delete removes it, D makes a copy.
- Edit a selected item on the right: label, table number, how many chairs (any number), exact position.
- Red items overlap each other, including chair space. Orange items sit on a wall, building or fountain.
- Select several with Shift+click or Shift+drag a box, then align or space them evenly.
- Scroll to move around the map. Zoom with the + / − buttons, Ctrl+scroll (Cmd on Mac), or a two-finger pinch on a touch screen. Use “Zoom to…” for named parts of the venue. “Lock zoom” in the View menu stops accidental zooming.
- View menu: hide chairs, table numbers or room labels. It affects the printout too.
- Chair rows come as 10 rows of 12 with a center aisle; change rows, chairs per row and the aisle on the right (up to 150 chairs per block). The Arrow item points the way for entrances and buffet lines.
- Fill in the Event box, then Print / PDF: pick what the map shows, map-only, a blank write-in sheet, or add the event details page. Choose “Save as PDF” in the print dialog to email it.
- On an iPad or phone, + Add opens the item list and Details opens the side panel. In Safari, Share → Add to Home Screen installs the planner; it then works without internet.
- Save keeps layouts in this browser on this computer. Save as file… makes a file you can email or keep on the shared drive, and Open file… loads it again anywhere.
- Undo is Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on Mac). Your work autosaves as a draft in this browser.
